Simply enter your weight in either metric or imperial units and then your height in metric or imperial units. Press the CACLCULATE BMI button to compute the value. You can mix measurements, for example, you can enter your height in feet and inches but your weight in kilos. However this proportion can be lower in lean individuals and it can rise dramatically in obese individuals. Obesity is now a major health problem in the West. Some studies suggest that the obesity epidemic is linked to a viral infection. Obesity can predispose to heart disease and diabetes. Body Mass Index or BMI can give an idea of the weight category that a person is in and so can have some predictive value. Diet and excercise can help to control weight but all changes to your life style should be discussed with a qualified person such as your GP (physician).
